As if Ruby Rose didn’t seem cool enough – she also has the guts to stand up for herself when she feels that she’s being mistreated.
Before her show in New Orleans, Ruby went to Rebellion Bar and Urban Kitchen for dinner along with her assistant and tour manager, but after receiving slow service (we’re talking an hour and a half for her food to arrive) she obviously expected the staff to be apologetic – they had other ideas…;
Because of the wait on their food, a waiter offered Ruby free alcoholic drinks, but after politely declining due to her sobriety, the server spewed derogatory jokes which the DJ and actress was definitely not happy with. So, what did she decide to do? She threw a single chip at him.
But, it seems that the waiter who clearly doesn’t have a clue about customer service returned when the trio were about to leave to once again make rude and hateful comments – so what did Ruby do? She threw MORE fries at him! (Will this guy get the hint already?!)
Due to her bad experience, Ruby wrote a lengthy Facebook post about her night and the fact that because her sobriety is such a personal thing – it was obviously going to cause an emotional reaction. We think the waiter was lucky that he only had chips thrown at him!
Before Ruby found fame, she was a waitress for 5 years and is always eager to show fellow servers the care and respect they deserve – so this establishment really must have mistreated her for the Orange Is The New Black star to respond in the way that she has.
Moral of the story – never mock anybody’s personal battles and never mess with Ruby Rose!

‘Fry-day the 13th
My assistant, tour manager and myself arrived at an establishment last night for dinner before my show in New Orleans.
We waited 60 minutes for fries and over 90 minutes for food that never actually arrived. When I asked about it, the bartender offered us drinks. I explained I’m sober, but thank you.
He then made some really rude and vulgar comments to the table. When someone makes repeated derogatory jokes about the sobriety I worked so hard to achieve, it’s hard not to react emotionally. So I threw a singular fry at him. Then he came back as we were getting ready to leave and continued making awful comments, so I continued with the fries.
Every day I learn new lessons about handling cultural and social ignorance. I am deeply regretful to the French fry and I am regretful that I reacted at all. Maybe next time I won’t throw fries, then again, maybe next time that bartender won’t tell someone who is sober to ”go call your f***ing sponsor!”
I worked in hospitality for 5 years and I have huge love, respect and admiration for servers around the world and how hard they work. I also have mad love for New Orleans and I want to come back 100 times if you will have me. Next time, dinner at my place.’
