Fox has dumped The Mindy Project, and this breakup has been rough.
While the show might find a home on Hulu for a couple of seasons according to the same source who dished that it would not be renewed by Fox, we’re still sad to see it leave Network TV.
Of course, this got me thinking about other longlost shows that untimely met their demise. Some found a home elsewhere, some others faded into our collective memory.
So, as you raise a toast for The Mindy Project, pour one out for these fallen homies too.
Arrested Development. While it was given a new home on Netflix, Fox took it off the air years earlier. Their reaction now? “I’ve made a huge mistake.”
Community. This too relied on its cult following to both bring back creative Dan Harmon AND find a resurgence on Hulu. This show is totally like “I knew Childish Gambino before it was cool.”
Firefly. This Joss Whedon masterpieces was lauded by critics and fans alike, and even garnered an Emmy win for Visual Effects. Too soon, Fox. Too soon.
Hello Ladies. Stephen Merchant’s hilarious take on the LA dating scene was bloody spot on, blokes… cheers! However, HBO decided to cancel it after only one season — it DID get a movie though from the ole Home Box Office. So, that’s something.
Southland. Boy, oh boy, did TNT screw the f*cking pooch on this one.
